Carmelita Stories
Minnie, Mannie, and Moe Lost Again by Linda Lou Horn
We discovered and bought this sculpture at the Snyderman-Works Gallery in Philadelphia in the summer of 2012. The camel central to the work was unnamed. We named her Carmelita and quickly appreciated that she was endowed with magical powers. Minnie, Mannie, Moe and Carmelita have become the subject of many stories that I have written for the enjoyment of our grandchildren, read at bedtime whenever they come to spend the night. A "Carmelita Story" is now an essential part of every visit. Carmelita is a perpetual reminder of the importance of imagination in the lives of children and adults; and of the connection between the visual arts and written narrative. That is part of her magic.
